The American Mythos
Government and Freedom
Outrage
I watch events unfold about our world and see the anger directed towards anyone that does not think the exactly the same as everyone else, and I am outraged. Those with a critical mind and take everything given to them with a grain of salt, are accused of being anti-American and pro-terrorists. The very notion of disagreeing with what our government tells us is a concept that is very much American. But, what makes you think that out of all the countries that you were born in that this one is the one that is the best we can have. We are citizens of the world, and the earth is all we have.
"The most dangerous man, to any government, is the man who is able to think things out for himself... Almost inevitably, he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, and intolerable. "~H.L. Mencken
Thus I have come to loathe the government that tells me I must, and I can't.We have no need for a paternal government, because we can and will take care of ourselves. There are people that will say "Look at society today with crime the way it is, how can we hope for no government?" To me that proves that the government is ineffective at solving anything, all they can figure out is how to gain the most money for themselves. Sure some politicians fight for the rights of the people. But again, who are they fighting against? The older brother, and father figure that believes that it is the one that has to take us by the hand and lead us out of danger. The concept of ruling over each other is outdated, we have grown up.
Children Are Our Future
Now I read this on the way home from the mall the other day, and I thought to my self, if this is true then why are churches, temples, and mosques ruining it for the rest of us. In virtually every religion and note that I said virtually, not all, there is an abundance of violence, and atrocities in its very own holy books. Judaism and Christianity alone have several verses on how to kill people that speak out against Yahweh. We've all seen what the Koran inspires in fundamentalist extremists see Osama bin Laden. I understand that Islam, Judaism, and Christianity are peaceful religions, yet it on a world stage I have yet to see it. Back to children. Look at the "fathers, brothers, and teachers" that our children grow up seeing. Fathers abandon their kids all the time from upper tier to lower tier society in every corner of the globe. Brothers, bully and demean, and teachers bias a childs mind. Forget the notions of children are the future, that is an impossibility. Children have the future that society places them in. At one time the American dream was to have a chance to do better, now all we have left is to be forced into a role we might not want to take. How do we fix it? Again change the system, fix this God-forsaken world through unity as a people, not through seperating ourselves from our fellow man in an elitist society.
